Kuo, Ryan

Ryan Kuo
Major:
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

My RISE area of interest during my first year is service. The reason why I chose service is because I really enjoy talking to others and being able to share my experiences while also being able to hear their experiences. Part of being an engineer is to develop technology for other people to use, and in order to try to build technology to benefit others it is important to be able to be able to see from other people’s perspectives.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

My RISE area of interest during my second year is research. The reason why I chose research is because I hope to be able to learn new things. It gives me a chance to better understand what my interests are. There are no right or wrong answers in research, so it gives me the ability to make my own decisions on what I think is best. It is definitely a challenging experience, but it is incredibly rewarding as well.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

I am a SEEDS peer mentor, CMNS ambassador, as well as a member of the Gemstone Honors Program.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

My cool engineering experience is being able to work with other people from various backgrounds to create something remarkable. From the hovercraft project class to circuits lab and digital logic design lab, I have had the opportunity to work with many people to produce these incredible products. Working together as a team really helps bring a design that is a magnificent combination of the knowledge of everyone involved.
