Judd, Kevin

Kevin Judd
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

For the first year, I am participating in the Research area of RISE. I was already involved in undergraduate research in the Human-Computer Interaction Lab and was interested in applying the research in an engineering context.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

During my second year, I hope to participate in the Entrepreneurship area of RISE because I have very little exposure to that side of engineering leadership, and I find it very interesting. I may also consider the Instruction area because I am currently acting as a UTF for ENEE205 and greatly enjoy teaching.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

Theta Tau – Professional engineering fraternity
Tau Beta Pi – Engineering honor society
Images – Campus Tour Guides
Intramural Sports
Undergraduate Research – HCIL with Jon Froehlich
Undergraduate Teaching Fellow – ENEE205 Electric Circuits

What is your cool engineering experience?:

While working for the government over the summer, I developed an RFID system that was integrated into a network monitoring tool. I demonstrated the prototype several times to different members of the government, including then Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, Zachary Lemnios. After the presentation, Mr. Lemnios presented me with a challenge coin because he was impressed with my work. It was incredibly exciting to be recognized for my work by someone so important in the government.
