Mechanical Engineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

My first year area of interest is instruction. I have been a TF for ENES 221 and it was an incredibly rewarding and valuable experience. I would like to continue to be a TF so that I may continue to help students understand core engineering concepts, while at the same time increasing my understanding of the material.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

In my second year, I plan to get involved with both service and research. I would like to seek out a faculty member that conducts research in an area that interests me. For service, I will pursue becoming a Clark School Ambassador. Additionally, I will find opportunities to reach out to the greater college park community and promote STEM awareness.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

I am involved in intramural sports here on campus. Additionally, I am an active member in our school’s chapter of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

Last spring, I worked for Volvo Group Trucks as a manufacturing engineering co-op. This was an amazing experience that allowed me to apply my coursework in mechanical engineering in a professional setting. I was able to use 3-D modeling software in order to design and prototype tools that were used by operators on the diesel engine assembly line.
