Postolache, Thea
Mechanical Engineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

My RISE interest for the first year is service. I am already involved in a lot of community service, and am the Vice President of a service organization on campus. I would like a way to connect service with engineering.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

During the second year, I would like to focus on entrepreneurship. I was a part of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Honors Program and I am minoring in Entrepreneurship Technology. Therefore, I would like a way to continue developing my entrepreneurial mindset and skills.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

Like I already mentioned, I am in a service organization that does various events in the community such as tutoring, nursing home visits, and breakfast servings to the homeless. I also really enjoy sports and am a part of club tennis. I am working this semester as the HVAC assistant at Epply Rec Center on campus.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

In ENES 100 we were the first semester ever to construct the Over-Sand-Vehicle (OSV). My mission was to autonomously get the vehicle to a pool of water and to measure different properties of the water. As lead structural designer I got to CAD a lot of the parts and make sure all of the different systems of the vehicle could be well integrated.
