Chu, Monica

Chu, Monica
Major:
Bioengineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

The first area of RISE I am interested in during my first year is Instruction. I've spent most of my academic career being some sort of tutor to younger students, or even my academic peers. I want to be a TA because I find that teaching comes naturally to me, which at the same time makes it quite enjoyable.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

The second area of RISE I am interested in is Research. Participating in research adds a new dimension to my bioengineering studies. This is where I have the chance to think innovatively and apply principles that I've previously learned.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

I am actively involved in a campus fellowship along with some intramural sports (occasionally). However, most of the spare time I have gone into training for a triathlon.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

My father works for Homeland Security and his department has these payload-carrying drones that can be 3D printed. The droned were having an issue landing, so I designed an attachment to the drone to add stability in both flight and landing.
