Luk, Allen

Major:
Bioengineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

Research: I would like to get involved in research because it's something I've only had limited experience in. I originally didn't have any plans for a career in research, but it would be foolish to not try it out first.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

Service: I hope to get involved in the service area as that would allow me to expand my experiences and possibly do something I wouldn't have done otherwise. It would allow me to hone in on some skills while also helping others.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

I am in AEMB, the bioengineering honors society, and Maryland Neuroscience Society. I also enjoy playing squash with friends at Eppley.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

My favorite engineering experience so far has been the ENES 100 project. Even though our group had some technical problems with deficient motors and it was frustrating at some times, we managed to complete most of the objectives by the trial date. With a project focused on teamwork and having a product by the end of it, it was definitely refreshing break from my other studying/exam based courses and gave a glimpse of what a professional engineer might do.
