Bak, Jesse

Mechanical Engineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

For my first year, I would like to focus on instruction because I have been a tutor in STEM subjects for close to 4 years now.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

For my second year, I would like to focus on research. I would like to work with emerging nanotechnologies. I want to get real-world technical experience with technology that is still very new but has countless potential for application if it can be implemented.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

I currently work as a private tutor. I am also involved with Towson University's Society of Physics Students (SPS). Other than these I am not involved in other extracurricular activities since I just transferred here last winter and was taking my first semester to get acclimated. I am hoping undergraduate research will become another involvement.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

Over the summer I worked for Schneider Electric as an engineering intern in the project estimation department. I enjoyed working with estimates because it gave me the opportunity to get involved in a large number of projects. Along with producing estimates I was given the opportunity to go on site visits to ongoing projects that have already been won.
