Fire Protection Engineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

During my first year in RISE I will continue my interest in research. I have had several research experiences in the past and have found that research in one of my passions. Last year I was working on several research projects through the A. James Clark School and I also had a research internship this summer. All of the research projects I have worked on have given me a new perspective on the engineering field and skills I would not have learned in the classroom.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

I have not yet decided what my area of interest will be for my second year in RISE. I am very interested in both Service and Instruction.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

When I am not working on a research project, you can find me dancing and volunteering at engineering events. I am the President of the Classical Dance Ensemble and have enjoyed continuing my passion for dance. Last year I was also a SEDS mentor for freshmen engineering students. I love to share my enthusiasm for FPE by volunteering at recruiting events for prospective students and this year I will be an A. James Clark School Ambassador.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

One of my favorite engineering experiences was volunteering at Maryland Day last year. I had the chance to run fire protection engineering demonstrations for visitors and explain to them the engineering principles behind the demonstrations. My favorite demonstrations was the fire tornado.
