Soltz, Sandra

Major:
Computer Engineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

I will be working on the Instruction portion of the RISE program during my first year. I plan to TA for ENEE200, which is an engineering ethics class. I am really passionate about the material we covered in class, and believe and teaching this material again would be a great experience.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

I will be working on the Research portion of the RISE program during my second year. I think that having research experience is essential to my engineering education and I am exciting to learn more about research in engineering through the RISE program.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

I am currently involved in the QUEST honors program and KEDMA, the Orthodox Jewish community on campus.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

My grandparents run a small biotech company called Conversion Energy Enterprises. They develop light-activated materials that can potentially sterilize and suture wounds. It’s a tradition in my family to go work in their lab every summer, and I have gotten the chance to work on some really cool machines. I got to help build a laser with my grandfather, which was really cool.
