Constantine, Brian

Major:
Chemical Engineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

For my first year I want to get involved in research. I have a big interest in pharmaceuticals so I hope to work in some kind of protein and/or drug development lab on campus. Having previous research experience at the National Cancer Institute, I think that it is a great way to explore different pathways of science and to learn a lot.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

For my second year I want to be an undergraduate teaching fellow (instruction). I was an OXE tutor, and enjoy helping others learn. This will give me the opportunity to do that in a classroom setting.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

I am a student leader in the on-campus Christian ministry Cru, am a member of the OXE Chemical Engineering Honors Society, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and enjoy playing tennis.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

My cool engineering experience was working in a pharmaceutical lab at the National Cancer Institute for the last three summers. I was able to contribute to a publication on a novel protein capable of inhibiting the transmission of HIV, where I tested, developed, and wrote the purification protocol for the protein.
