Chan, Alisha

Alisha Chan
Major:
Civil and Environmental Engineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

I want to do Instruction during my first year in the RISE Program because I want to go to graduate school and possibly become a professor. Participating in the Instruction program would help me gain great experience in teaching.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

I am most interested in doing Entrepreneurship during my second year in the RISE Program because if becoming a professor does not work out, I want to start my own company. This experience could help me learn how to do so.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:
  • Research Assitant in the Membrane Innovation Lab
  • Member of Tau Beta Pi (Engineering Honors Society) and officer (Websmaster) for the society during the coming school year
  • Engineering Honors Program
  • Club Swim Team
What is your cool engineering experience?:

At the Membrane Innovation Lab, I had the chance to study and research Janus Membrane, Janus Membranes have the ability to separate water and oil with no necessary input energy. I thought this was very amazing so throughout the time I worked in the Membrane Innovation Lab, I researched how to create Janus Membranes using available materials.
