Mechanical Engineering

What is the RISE area of interest during your first year and why?:

I am interested in doing Research my first year.  I have found a project that I am really interested in and I am looking forward to working on that.  As a mechanical engineering I don’t have too many chances to work with biomedical engineering, but I think that this project will provide me that chance.

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

I would like to do Entrepreneurship my second year.  I originally would have done it my first year, but as I said above I found a project that I was really interested in.  Plus, I plan on using this year to think about what I will do for this category next year, especially since it is largely up to the student to figure out what they will do.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

I am part of Alpha Omega Epsilon, an engineering sorority here on campus. Through this group I participate in professional, social, and service events. I am also part of Team Brain Blast, a Gemstone team part of the University Honors College.  We are investigating a specific mechanism of Alzheimer’s disease.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

Several years ago I used the systems engineering approach to design, build, and test a biomedical device.  This project was very successful and I was even invited to present at a symposium in Rome!
