Chen, Henry

Major:
Computer Engineering and Mathematics

What is the RISE area of interest during your second year and why?:

I am planning on doing research, because I hope to get into the departmental honors program for the ECE department. I think research is required for completion of the program, so hopefully that will be my research aspect of the RISE program.

What are your involvements and or extracurricular activities?:

This semester I am interning at START (National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism) as a GIS analytical intern, in which I will be working on data-driven documents. I am also involved with Terrapin Hackers in which I go to a few Hackathons during the semester.

What is your cool engineering experience?:

This summer I worked for the automations group of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences, and there I built an economical 3D printed parallel arm liquid dispenser with 2 other interns. Essentially the goal of this project was to design a dispenser made of much cheaper parts, so that other laboratories can assemble this dispenser, without spending almost $90,000 on a professional dispensing machine.
